An Orton Gillingham Inspired Approach to Literacy

Welcome!

When it comes to reading, some students just need a bit of extra help-someone to slow things down, explain the rules clearly, and guide them step by step in an explicit and structured way to understand the patterns and logic behind the English language.

With patience, encouragement, and individualized lessons tailored to each child's needs, I help students make sense of reading and spelling--so they can build strong foundational skills, gain confidence, and grow as independent, successful readers.

TESTIMONIALS

~Amber, a grateful mother

It's hard for me to put all my thoughts into one paragraph! Candice has worked with my daughter for 4 years in a variety of capacities. She has been an early-childhood educator, a mentor, and a reading tutor for my daughter. Candice's gift as an educator is to be fully present with the child in front of her. She connects with grace and respect for her students so they are excited to learn with her.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Ms. Candice!  My child is thriving under her instruction.  She is patient and kind and does amazing with neurodivergent children!  Dyslexia is often a daunting, uphill battle but Ms. Candice has given my child an incredible confidence boost.  No more tears with our reading assignments!

We are very pleased with Candice as our sons' literacy instructor! In just a year, our eldest went from below to above grade level, and our kindergartner is now reading above grade level too. Candice's engaging sessions include a variety of fun activities that make learning feel like play. Beyond her effective teaching methods, Candice's exceptional kindness and patience further set her apart as an outstanding instructor. Highly recommended!
